Santa Clara, California Speed Traps
Lawrence Expressway near Reed Avenue
Not actually a speedtrap but a carpool lane violator trap. Santa Clara PD seen most frequently for Southbound Lawrence @ Kifer, Reed (after the overpass he is in the shade past the signal), and a lot of times see him on the wide shoulder past Homestead Road where the new Kaiser hospital will be relocated to. I have not seen a Sunnyvale PD/DPS, sometimes CHP is seen as well. Carpool enforced hours are 6-9 AM, 3-7 PM from I-280 to CA-237. If you go through an intersection with no 2nd occupant you will get cited during the restricted hours. You can turn right into cross streets using the lane. Fine is at least $271 if caught.
Lickmill Road near Rivermark
Speed limit is 25mph for this supposed "work zone." Motorcycle cops hideout and go on foot with handheld radar guns. Pay attention to all cross streets and apartment complex driveways/parking lots near and around Rivermark Shopping Center. They use instant on radar. I believe Decatur Genesis Guns are used.
San Tomas Expressway near Central Expressway
South Bound San Tomas Expy. just past the underpass of Central Expy. on the right hand side. A Motor Cop with radar, set back just far enough that it’s too late when you see him. Usualy around 2 to 4pm. Speed limit is 45 when most cruise around 55 to 60mph.

street
Winchester blvd turns into Lincoln Ave the speed limit changes from 35 to 25 and the sign is behind a tree. The bike cops love to sit there next to a house with a white picket fence in front waiting for people like me.
