Saratoga Avenue near Cox Avenue

Saratoga, CaliforniaMar 21, 20060 Comments

From Saratoga Avenue, motorists tend to jump the white line to get by a long line of cars waiting at the Cox Ave. light. They jump the white line before the driveway to Intero Real Estate so they can make a right on Cox. A motorcycle cop waits inside the driveway for people to jump the white line and then pulls them over on Cox and tickets them. I’ve noticed that a few cars in a row may pull this stunt, but the cop usually tickets about the third in line, b/c that’s how long it takes for them to get the motorcycle going, etc.

Police car waits on Paseo Presada, south side (across from 24 Hour Fitness), facing intersection of Cox/Paseo Presada. It’s less for speeding and more for people rolling through the stop sign as they continue down Cox toward the intersection of Cox/Saratoga Ave.

Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road near Herriman Avenue

The infamous Saratoga motorcycle cop waits at the bottom of a small dip on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road during the mid-day lunch hour for high school kids to speed on their way out to lunch towards Cupertino. He will change to the other side of the road for when students come back from lunch, or he also waits on Herriman Avenue after school ends.

Fruitvale Avenue, north of the Three Oaks Way intersection and south of the Allendale Avenue intersection.

During the day time hours, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office frequently has deputies either on motorcycles, inside all white Chevrolet Camaros or Ford Crown Victorias using radar along both directions of Fruitvale Avenue. Since Redwood Middle School is on Fruitvale Ave., deputies also park amongst the trees and bushes on the south bound side of Fruitvale Ave. at the intersection of Montauk Drive to write citations to enforce the twenty-five mile per hour speed limit when children are present. When children are not present, the speed limit all along Fruitvale Ave. is a very low thirty-five miles per hour. The deputies will park their vehicles anywhere along Fruitvale Ave. Since West Valley Community College is accross the street from Redwood Middle School, the West Valley-Mission Community College District Police also catch speeders along Fruitvale Ave. between Allendale Avenue and Douglass Lane. Fortunately, their Ford Crown Victoria patrol cars are painted black and white which makes them far more visible in day light as law enforcement vehicles compared to the all white Santa Clara County Sherrif’s patrol cars. Unfortunately, the West Valley-Mission Community College District Police frequently park in front their college along Fruitvale Ave. or even in the Redwood Middle School parking lot at night.
