Seal Beach, California Speed Traps
State Highway 1 near Seal Beach Boulevard
Motorcycle cop in the dirt shoulder just at the bottom of the S.B. side of PCH as you go over the Anaheim Bay bridge. Pegged me for going 63 in a ‘posted’ 45 zone. Prevailing traffic is usually 60- 70 mph.
Not a jerk (actually , a polite cop), but definitely out to raise money.
State Highway 1 near Seal Beach Boulevard
Between Seal Beach Blvd and Surf Side/Huntington Harbor. Mostly motorcycle type although there can be an occasional Patrol car that take up positions along the Highway. Mostly seen positioned between the bridge over the water outlet for the harbor and Seal Beach Blvd (SBB). Going South they might be backed into the curb just around the first bend in the road past SBB, in the Surf Side entry way just over the bridge, or in the Taco Surf parking lot just before the water tower home seen after making the final turn just after the Surf Side driveway.
Going North, they will sit in the driveway of the last condo complex before the section of Highway that goes through the US Navy Weapons Station and the other place is at the knoll of the hill at the last turn before going down the hill toward SBB.
On some holidays the Highway Patrol will set up along the Highway with multiple motorcycles to try to catch drunk drivers.
That area is patrolled by the Seal Beach Police, the California Highway Patrol, and Sheriff patrols.
Westminster Boulevard near Along the Naval Station
Officers operate in teams. One sits at the edge of where the Naval Station runs into Bolsa Chica, and the other is radioed behind where he will nab you. I was nailed here, and I see it happen still, all the time. Make sure you follow the posted 55 MPH, or they will get close to their quota for the day.
Lampson
On the street of Lampson there are many intersections and places to park along side the road. Such places along the road the Tennis Club parkinglot, bus stop, by Heather Park, and the WestEd building. Be sure to be on the look out because the local cops tend to hind in the shade and behind obstructions.
Seal Beach Blvd
City Motorcycle patrol is found daily between the 405 Freeway and the Boeing parking lot. Speed limit is 45 MPH and he is writhing 53 MPH and above. Drive in a pack and his radar is useless. He can’t single out individual cars. But he can use vascar techniques to determine your speed..
