CHP and Sherrif both monitor AM westbound traffic on this heavily used backroad between Tracy and Livermore
They sit on the Tracy side, just as the limit reduces from 55 to 45, near the PG&E plant. They also post midway & top of the pass, watching for both speeders and illegal passing, and again on the Livermore side at Cross Rd. hitting the downhill commuters with radar.

PM hours, I have seen them just East of Cross Rd, hitting cars with radar as they come uphill/East

CHP hot spot. Often units will park on dirt side roads hidden by trees, bushes, bridges and crops. Beware as you approach Howard as well. Sheriff units seen parked along curve that leads to S. Lammers Rd. Tracy PD. runs patrol off N. Sugar Rd. and S. Holly Drive.

East bound on 11th St., after railroad overpass, under the trees at M & M Builders Supply the CHP lies in wait with a radar gun. People normaly hit 55 to 60 as they hit the top of the overpass. Flash your lights, tailgate me, I do the speed limit, I can’t afford a ticket.

Driving west on Hwy 580, after the Tracy Golf and Country Club right under the overpass that makes the on ramp (hwy 580 east to Hwy East 132) towards Modesto. You do not see the police car until you are very close. They see you easily from the shade of the overpass and the adjacent trees.
