Tracy, California Speed Traps

I got caught doing 81 in a 70 zone by a cop car hiding behind the supports for an overpass. While I was stopped, I witnessed two other cars get pulled over. After I got the ticket, I took the next exit and saw another cop pull someone over. Don’t learn it the hard way; definitely drive the speed limit on this stretch of I-580 between I-205 and I-5!

As you travel westbound on highway 205 leaving Tracy,California and about .5 mile before Mountain House exit. There is a sound wall on the right shoulder about 12 Fort high. At the west end of this wall the CHP car hides behind it away from view as you approach. At about 75ft from reaching the end of the wall you will then be able to see the front of the CHP car. The area is shaded by an over pass as well. He is using digital Ka-band radar front and rear of his vehical. My passport 4500 never went off. I have a passport 8500 now that picks up digital Ka band.

Heading Eastbound I-205, just after you split off from I-580, right at the bottom of the hill. Ponch and Jon are sitting on the motorcycle with K-Band radar. Tracy PD sits in the used car lot right after the intersection, targeting westbound traffic that comes over the overpass just past Macarthur Blvd. Saw him there on a Saturday and he looked bored and wanted someone to talk to. Be careful, impossible to see. Just do the posted 35 limit or less, he’ll ignore you.
