Tustin Ranch Road north of Irvine Blvd.

Traveling southbound on Tustin Ranch Road north of Irvine Blvd., many mornings I have observed a motorcycle officer lying in wait to nab speeders. Since the road there is downhill and the speed limit is 55mph, morning rush-hour drivers tend to go 65mph or more. He feasts on this traffic. Beware!!!

Please note that anyone going 65mph on this road deserves a ticket. I just hate to see anyone get one.

On Walnut Ave. between Redhill on the east and Newport Ave. on the west.

Motorcycle officers (usually 2, sometimes 3, one time I saw 4) sit on their bikes on the south side of the street in any of several view-blocked apartment complex driveways and shoot radar and cars driving both east and west on Walnut. You cannot see them until you are right next to them, and they can see you for virtually the entire 1/2 block, both ways. I live in one of the apartment complexes and appreciate their presence, because the idiots in the cars think this stretch of Walnut is a freeway. Tustin PD is VERY professional and their radar units are ALWAYS calibrated. They WILL nail you for anything over 5 MPH over the posted limit.

This trap unfortunately occurs in front of a school, and the officers will claim they have to give a ticket because the kids might run across the road to the Interstate 5 (yeah right). The traffic survey claims that the speed limit should be 35, but it based that on the previous survey. Most traffic is going 10 MPH over that.
