West Covina, California Speed Traps
Walnut Ave between Maplegrove Ave and Francisquito Ave
Actually in LA county area. Speed limit is 25 mph on Walnut in West Covina which changes name to Echelon in La Puente. South of Francisquito there is nothing but empty parking lots and a church for about a block and further south there are homes. West Covina police sit behind bushes in parking lot on north west corner of Walnut and Francisquito waiting for anyone to be just a couple of miles over the 25 mph limit and then they’ve got you! More than a $200.00 fine for 6 miles over. They monitor periodically and then they stop.
On Stuart Between Larkellen and Azusa Ave.
Speed limit is 25 mph. It is real easy to go 35-40. Cops wait at the east end w/radar. I know I got pulled over. They were very nice though. I was shocked to see that I was going so fast. I haven’t made that mistake since. If you cut over to the north one street, it’s a 35 mph zone.
Willow Street near Merced Avenue
Motor officers from West Covina PD are shooting radar from Francisquito to Merced Avenue. They are enforcing residential speed zones, school zones and "Hollywood Stop" enforcement. West Covina PD are aware that Willow Street is a shortcut to the 10 Freeway off ramps and really work it through rush hour traffic.
Vincent Avenue near jamba juice parking lot
when leaving jamba juice to get back to vincet ave, you are to make a right away from the street (no left turns) but everyone makes a left anyway. well i made that mistake one day and took that left to vincent and a motor cop was hidding behind the bushs in the gas station next door. pulled me into the mall parking lot and there was four other cars with other cops giving out tickets. i guess this is a problem.
Cortez Street near Citrus Avenue
West Covina police sit in their vehicle Westbd on Cortez St on the East side intersection of Citrus Ave. They cannot see the stop sign because of 12’hedges. If you stop at the stop sign approx 10′ North of the crosswalk, and do not stop again after you enter the crosswalk, you will be given a ‘rolling stop’ ticket. This is a regular setup and the judge will listen to you patiently explain and show pictures where the police vehicle is clearly unable to see the stop sign, and then politely find you "Guilty"
