Westminster, California Speed Traps
In the AM, motorcycle officer sits with Radar gun in the small business parking lot on the eastside of Goldenwest Street just after the railroad tracks and before Hazard. Speed limit is posted @ 40 MPH in the Westminster High School zone. Heavy traffic. In the PM Rush, a Patrol Car officer with Radar, sits back and hidden in the southwest parking lot of Westminster High School. Cars traveling south can see him; however, northbound drivers will not see him due to construction tarpolins covering fences.
I was the only car in area, driving alone and heading north on Edwards. Most cars go over the 35 mph limit when safe. After turning right on Garden Grove Blvd., a motorcycle cop who was hiding on Edwards zipped up behind me and gave me a speeding ticket. I feel I was a target driving alone and the only car around. I won’t drive here anymore.
Eastbound McFadden Avenue just before Brookhurst Street in the SCE driveway entrance, a policeman is waiting to catch you in the act. Twice in one month I was pulled over for going 50 mph in a 40 mph zone. The cop recognized me and my last name and gave me the second ticket anyway. This hiding place is a total speed trap and both of my tickets were at months end. Hmmmmm…..gee….what a gig this is.
Heading northbound on Goldenwest Street descending from the freeway overpass one’s speed naturally increases causing you to exceed the 40 MPH limit. A motorcycle officer is sitting in a parking lot on the right side just beyond the base of the overpass. Enforcement is most common during the last week of the month.
On Trask Avenue cross street Brookhurst there is always a cop on a motorcycle on a large residental lot on the left side of the driveway hidden by a wall. Accross from the dealerships.he will use a radar gun on traffic going eastbound on Trask and you cannot see him until you get close or passed him.
