Uintah between I-25 & Cascade – both east & westbound

Colorado Springs, ColoradoJul 15, 20020 Comments

Colorado Springs PD motorcycle units will sit just east of the bridge over Monument Creek. Eastbound, they are in a driveway on the right, going up the hill towards Cascade (I think it’s an access road for Colorado College buildings). Westbound, they are in the last residential driveway before the bridge. With the hill there, they are hard to see before they nail you. Prevailing speeds are 40-ish, but the limit is 30.

I live a couple of blocks from this trap, see them regularly, and hear them at night, pulling drivers over. I have seen as many as 4 units working both sides of the street.

I-25 and Circle south bound circle onramp merge.

Colorado Springs, ColoradoJul 01, 20010 Comments

Variety of vehicles from the Two motorcycle patrols to the white inconspicuous Impala to the state patrol camaro. They often wait on the shoulder of the onramp to I-25 from circle have the radar painting the far end of the ramp. Drivers can not see the oncoming traffic from circle so the cruiser/bikes are hidden well. Often drivers are caught doing 75+ in the 65 zone.

I-25 North Underneath the Briargate overpass

Colorado Springs, ColoradoJul 01, 20010 Comments

State trooper in a low profile camaro hiding in the shadows underneath the bridge at the briargate overpass. Clocks both lanes and has the room to accelarate through traffic while on the shoulder. Uses the rear laser munted on the back seat and confirms with the fron mounted or handheld. Often during the 730 am to 830 am rush hour.
