Denver, Colorado Speed Traps

The City of Denver set the speed limit at 65 mph leaving DIA on Pena Blvd. About 2 miles southwest of the terminal, the speed limit is lowered to 55 mph for outbound traffic. There is one set of signs noting the lower speed limit, and a number of motorcycle cops that inhabit the area immediatley after the signs. The speed limit is reduced for approximately 1/2 mile, then the 65mph limit resumes.

Westbound on Colfax just west of Federal Blvd, motorcycles await the unsuspecting. I’ve timed them giving out 12 or more tickets per hour per policeman.

The westbound East First Avenue between University Blvd and Downing is 30mph through residential area. Lot of times, the cops hide behind the street furnitures, waiting to nab the luckless drivers. I see them often in the afternoons.
