Dillon, Colorado Speed Traps
I70 bridge and Hwy 9. Coming down the hill on Highway 9 toward i-70. I live in Texas, visiting the Silverthorne/Dillon area for the 2nd time. Picked up speed coming down the hill. Too late-the red lights come in. 10 miles above for literally 4 to 5 seconds. The officer clearly had NO interest in cutting me slack: it was obviously a quota-driven stop. Guess it is not enough for Texans to prop up their economy with tourism, they have to shake us down when we come.
As you proceed north out of town, the speeds increase. Then a cop sits at the elementry school, where a reduced speed is. Always there after school.
heavily patrolled by six marked cars of Dillon police 24/7 – town is in constant financial trouble residents are over taxed, but local govt thinks up a new and expensive project every week.
Police sit by the intersection of the Dillon Dam road and highway 6 on the downhill stretch right before the turn off for City Market shopping center usually clocking downhill traffic
If you’re a local you already know about this trap so watch it out of towners!
