Empire, Colorado Speed Traps
US Highway 40
This is a small town immediately north of I-70 and the main route to Winter Park Ski Area. I would not call it a speed trap, but be aware they do enforce speeding almost every single minute of every single day. Pay close attention to the speed limits while travelling uphill into town-northbound traffic and even closer attention to your speed coming back from skiing southbound traffic to connect to Frontage Road or I-70 back to Denver.

US Highway 40
On your way to Winter Park via Berthoud Pass, you come through Empire. There are always 2 cops hidden behind buildings, one at the entrance to town behind or near the school, the other at the exit hidden behind the resteraunt.
US Highway 40 near Exit Number 232
Got trapped in a supposed "school zone," though not marked except by flashing yellow lights that are impossible to see with the setting sun (going west). Fines were doubled for this, about $200. Even doing the posted 35 mph speed gets a ticket, and they added on more mph to get a bigger fine.
Heading W on 40 right outside of the town of Empire
A real trap since the sign to do 55 is posted about 500 yds away and the officer sits about 200 yds away and bags you before the sign.
Fight it since Lidar does not have judicial notice in Colorado.
