Interstate 70 near Bottom of mountains

Golden, ColoradoSep 04, 20070 Comments

Coming down out of the mountains on the 70, there are "road construction" signs which set the speed limit at a highly unreasonable 55mph. This is especially bad considering you’re coming out of the mountains on a fairly steep down grade. It’s very difficult to maintain 55mph just because of the weight of most vehicles. Coming out of the last curve from the mountains (a left curve when heading West towards Denver), you will see a straight section of highway headed down into Denver. There will be a slight/subtle hill you pass over, and on the other side of that hill or rise, a police car will sit in the center median on the left with radar trained on all traffic coming out of the mountains.

State Highway 470 near Interstate 70

Golden, ColoradoJun 11, 20070 Comments

When you’re coming off of C470 and cross I-70 to go into Golden. The speed limit drops from 65 to 55, you go under a flyover and Bam – off in the distance, you see a couple of either motorcycle or car cops w/ radar guns. Tough place, you pretty much have to be aware of it to avoid a ticket when they’re there.
