Manassa, Colorado Speed Traps
Usually on Main Street, but often on dirt side roads
The town police officer does almost nothing but wait for cars to come through town a little too fast. There are no warnings. I live in town, and just got a speeding ticket on my birthday! He often waits just off Main Street in the shade by the Catholic Church east of town, so he can see cars approaching towards town from the town of Sanford to the north, but he can also clock cars approaching town from the east of speeding up too soon leaving town from the west. Nowhere in town is safe from the traps, they can be anywhere in town. I have lived here on Main Street since February 2012, and he has had car stopped right in front of my house about 2 blocks from the east end of town, as many as a dozen times, but I have seen cars stopped all up and down main street. There is also an unmarked maroon colored car that is occupied by a Colorado state trooper who likes to take advantage of the easy pickings in this town, the speed limit on Main Street is 25 for at least a half a mile, otherwise 30 or 35 as posted. He got me for driving 2 blocks to the gas station without my seat belt on. Again, no warning.
