S Federal and W Hampden

Sheridan, ColoradoJan 30, 20110 Comments

I’m not sure if it’s just E/W or if it’s all four ways. Started 1/1/11. It is a big red light camera setup, very out in the open. Speed doesn’t matter here.

I will make specific entries on the next two. Because of large, separate construction zones with various lower speeds, west bound on W Hampden between S Federal and S Sheridan there is usually a white speed photo minivan for "end of work" traffic, anywhere between 3 to 6:30pm. Finally, east bound on W Hampden, "morning traffic" between 6 to 10:30am, there is usually a grey speed photo minivan.

So. Irving St. and W. Kenyon Ave.

Not necessarily a speed trap..more of a stop sign running trap. A Sheridan Officer sits on the east side of the 3600 block of So. Irving facing south (he is facing the wrong way) to catch someone running the stop sign when they are going east on Kenyon. Or for that matter, Mullen High School kids blowing through the stop sign going west on Kenyon trying to get to school at the last minute. He is hidden from view by the trailor park 6′ board fence on the NW corner and the house on the NE corner. Fortunately, I come to a complete stop at all stop signs..I fall into the lead-foot group.

Santa Fe Southbound- Evans to Dartmouth

Sheridan, ColoradoJul 19, 20100 Comments

Denver police like to hide under the Evans bridge and in the first few parking lots after a long fence on the right. Then Sheridan police take over when Santa Fe flows into their county.

Sheridan police hide on the right side further south, their favorite place being Lipan, a small street just before Dartmouth. They have been there at all times of the day and night, including 3:00am. No time is safe, and they use laser so a radar detector won’t help you. Speed limit is 45mph, but they won’t pull you over going 52 or less. Advise slowing down from Overland Golf Course north of Evans through Dartmouth.

North/Southbound Federal Blvd. between Belleview and Oxford

This is a guaranteed speedtrap for Sheridan police. The cops love to sit on the east side behind signs (near Bobs Towing) on a hill with a clear shot of their radar gun on you before you see them. This spot is mainly for northbound traffic. Not real sure where they sit for southbound but it’s somewhere in there. I have seen MULTIPLE pullovers especially during rush hour. BEWARE!

S. Federal Boulevard near S. Decatur Street

He sits just north of the Public Storage units hidding behind a tree and the PS sign. He will catch you going north and Federal where the speed limit is 35MPH. It is hard to go that slow on a two lane road that needs to be faster.
