Between South Fork and Pagosa Springs, Colorado, there are some man made walls on the West bound side of highway 160. The speed limit isn’t clearly posted, and the officer hides behind these wall structures. They are out of place, and it seems their only purpose is to provide a hiding place for the patrol car.

US 160 east of highway 49 junction within South Fork city limits where 40 mph speed is poorly posted especially if originating from a left turn from Colorado 49 that goes to Creed.

The location of the trap appears to be open highway where speeds higher than 40 mph would be expected. Traffic flow is fast comming down hill after Wolf creek pass. It was experienced that Local South Fork police waited at early night just east of a 40 mph sign about 1 to 2 miles east of the 160/49 junction where the posted 40 mph speed posting is difficult to see at night until one’s lights hit the 40mph sign and the back of a white patrol car just east of the sign and on the South side of the 160 highway.
