River Road near Route 202

Canton, ConnecticutApr 09, 20100 Comments

An officer often sits in the parking lot adjacent to Ocean State Job Lot. The officer sits far back in the lot so as not to be seen immediately from the road. It’s especially hard to see the officer if you are coming from the center of Collinsville so slow down extra early for the light at the intersection of River Rd and Rte 202.

Lovely Street – AKA Route 177

Canton, ConnecticutApr 09, 20100 Comments

I have often seen officers sitting in 2 areas on this road:

1: At the Greenwood Cemetery between Hollister Dr. and Mallard Dr.

2: Towards the beginning of Lovely Street, nearer to Canton, there is a very small dirt area on the southbound side of the road maybe 1/4 mile past the Roaring Brook Veterinary Hospital.

Route 44 – Near 44/202 split

Canton, ConnecticutApr 09, 20100 Comments

An officer commonly sits at the area where Rte. 44 becomes a divided highway and splits off to follow either 44 or 202. The large patch of vacant land between the east bound and west bound lanes is where they often sit. Depending which way you’re coming from, you may not see them behind the mounds of dirt which is how they catch most people.

Maple Avenue near IGA Supermarket

Canton, ConnecticutMay 27, 20040 Comments

This is a good trap. The Canton cops usually sit at the IGA grocery store waiting for someone to drive by. So, you think you’re safe coming toward the officer because he’s shooting radar the other way, right? Very wrong. These cops whip around and fly after you. I saw it happen recently to a driver that thought the officer was going to pull over a driver in the other direction. The cop slammed on his brakes in front of me, turned around, hit his lights, and caught up to that unlucky guy so fast. I think the speed limit is under 35, so beware.
