Pinnney Street

There is a large yellow barn on the right if you are traveling from the center of town. There is often a town cop with an Explorer parked just past the barn. Fairly visible however.

Shenipsit Street near Mountain Street

This operation had car after car pulled over. There is a swooping turn coming from Ellington heading towards Vernon on Shenipsit St. One cruiser is pulled off the road on the right (with an Explorer parked in front has well) hundreds of feet ahead. It’s set up so as you’re coming around that corner fast, they are far ahead and already got you. Then, on the other side of the road – closer to Mountain St. is another cruiser and officer. They are getting people for anything and everything; seat belts, broken lights, rolling though any one of 4 stops signs, reg, etc. No "free passes" – up to 3 at a time. Generating a healthy revenue for the town while "keeping the peace". Serve and protect indeed…..

On any of the many side streets by the lake or sometimes directly on Rt. 140 (Sandy Beach Road). Speed limit near the lake is 25 so during the spring & summer they are there frequently.

State Route 83 near Between the Big Y and Bolles’ Motors

Ellington, ConnecticutJun 08, 20070 Comments

A police car is sitting the the driving range parking lot in the morning almost everyday Monday-Friday. Basically he is there to ensure no one is reckless, traffic is pretty heavy in the mornings and the officer is usually there for a few hours. I have never seen him pull someone over because the police car is easily noticeable, right next to the road with nothing hiding the car.
