Ellendale, Delaware Speed Traps
US Highway 113
Delaware State Police set up a speed trap at the south end of the Ellendale forest. It is not uncommon for them to use and unmark vehicle sitting in the medain strip and have the hood and trunk open as if being broken down and they run radar. They primarily hit the south bound lanes mainly in the summer.
Rt16 either east or west through town
This is a main route to the resort area through a small town with a lot of foot traffic. Also this area has some drug activity. The state boys are here at night and they’re looking for reasons to stop people. they sit in the trees on the east side of town or beside the abandoned store in town.
State Rt. 16 in both directions
Within the town of Ellendale never exceed 25, and the speed drops from either 35 or 50 to 25 like a rock. Both local and state police marked and un-marked. Also be aware from Ellendale west to Greenwod and through Greenwood, and from Ellendale east to Milton. Beware the church lot just east of the Getty Gas Station. These are the hot spots, but all of 16 from Greenwood to Highway 1 to Lewes/Rehoboth is a trap. The max is 50 and one should never exceed 55 even with a detector.
