Fenwick Island, Delaware Speed Traps
Coastal Highway at Atlantic Ave.
The town has just installed a solar-powered digital speed warning readout. It posts the speeds of approaching cars in an attempt to get them to slow down. I have seen the police actually use the readouts in place of radar to nab cars entering the 35 mph area.
Rt. 1 and Lewis Street
The nearest cross street is Rt. 1 and Lewis Street. There is a hidden moving radar speed trap. The police car was hidden on the median of the road behind some obstruction. I also noticed people in the slow lane….four OR more car lengths ahead of me. Pick up a good radar detector when entering this area.. Like a VALENTINE 1. It detects radar from two and a half miles away, or pick up a radar jamming device (That is what I am going to do).
State Highway 1-Coastal highway near State Route 54
Marked and unmarked Fenwick Island Police cars usually sit in parking areas on the either side of the road. Occasionally a State Trooper fills in. This practice is not only for the summer tourists but for the locals as well, particularly in the mornings from 7-9 Am.
State Highway Coastal
Strict enforcement of speed. The 35 mph limit extends well north of the town until you see the first 50 mph highway sign.
