Milford, Delaware Speed Traps
State Route 1 near 10th Street
Milford police were just regranted a limited section of this major highway running along the edge of its incorporated city limits to run radar near this intersection for school safety. The city of Milford has previously lost this privilage by the state attorney generals office for abusing the enforcement (example: charging motorists for speeding 58 in a 55 on a dual line highway. Problem is, the cops work the highway primarily on Saturdays when school is not in session and gads of tourists are on their way to the beach and continue to stop motorists and cite them for speeding even just a few mph over the speed limit. They clearly view it as a business enterprise and any given sat. will find all available city cops along this stretch issuing wholesale citations. They are using intstant on laser/radar and can register your speed instantly. Best to slow down from the Route 113 overpass on the north end of town until you are 1 mile south of the Route 36 overpass (which is the Del. State police radar hangout on route 1) and then you should be okay for the next 8-10 miles.
