New Castle, Delaware Speed Traps

Officers are located on the ramp ,around the bend,leading from I95 south to I295 northbound toward the Delaware Memorial Bridge.

Traveling north on I-95 to I-295 towards the Delaware Memorial Bridge you will notice the speed limit drops to 50MPH on this 4-lane highway as you approach the bridge. The Delaware River and Bay Authority have their own police force of about 20 patrol cars (You can view them in the center median just before going over the bridge). Very often during any time of the day, these patrols will utilize the median crossings (up to a mile in advance of the bridge) to run radar. My advice is to be aware of your speed once you notice the "Amber Alert" signs approaching the bridge. I would not recommend doing more than 60MPH in this 50MPH zone.

Traveling on Route 9 north or south into Old New Castle the speed limit is only 25 MPH all the way through. There is barely anything on this road but it is a main roadway for beach traffic and special events such as thee NASCAR races in Dover. Watch out for New Castle Police hiding around curves in the road.

In the Old New Castle section of Route 273 when traveling eastbound the speed limit is 50 MPH but quickly drops down to 35 MPH as you enter a residential area. New Castle police often hide near bushes or grass areas.
