Newport, Delaware Speed Traps
E newport pike (route 4)
coming from banning park towards newport and the 141 I95 interchange, do not speed, 30 mph max!
St. James Street near Highland Avenue
Cops park at the parking area between Justis Street and Highland Ave. No natural hiding barriers, but they still don’t stand out. Not cartop lights. 30 mph zone. Plenty of signs, but its easy to go over 30. Easy money for the town police.
State Highway 141 North near Under overpass just before Stanton exit
Headed on 141 North towards I-95 Interchange unmarked older Chevy Impala with radar sits under over pass just before Stanton exit Speed limit is 50 and they strictly enforce it.
N. James Street near State Route 141
Up to as many as 3 patrol cars park in a commercial business parking lot just before Motorama Auto Sales and Service. I’ve seen as many a 6 cars pulled over at one time in this 30mph spot.
Route 4 through the town
It is very common to see the Newport Police sitting on the side of Route 4 to run radar. Watch your speed through the entire Newport area, since they are notorious for enforcing minor infractions.
