This is not a speed trap but red dots are mysteriously showing up on tires. There may also be other colors. It has happened to us and others in the downtown area. It is not just public streets, it also happens in private parking lots that are not in direct view of the dining/drinking customers. The theory is the police department is monitoring how long you have been there.

Pine Island Rd just past Cultural Park Blvd

Cape Coral PD is testing you to see if you know about the "Move Over" Law. You may see two police cars parked behind a vehicle that’s been pulled over on the right shoulder. Make sure that you pull into the left lane if possible. It not possible, slow down to 20 mph LESS than the posted speed limit. Otherwise, the second police car will dart out behind you and slap you with a $160 ticked for the first offense. They do this all up and down Pine Island Rd.

Veterans Parkway West bound just past toll

Cape Coral, FloridaMar 03, 20100 Comments

This is a divided highway with large berms and barriers. Posted speed limit is 50 MPH. One would expect speed limit should be 55 MPH. Fine for going 65 MPH is $249. That is the speed most traffic proceeds at late at night. Unmarked car sits on westbound on ramp of Veterans Pkwy (State Road 884)just as you go over mid point bridge. Police use radar and trapping speeders going west over the bridge just after toll booth and before Del Prado Blvd exit ramp. Police can’t be seen unless you’re going eastbound to Ft Myers…

Hancock Bridge Parkway Near Del Prado Blvd.

The speed on Hancock Bridge Parkway, east and west from U.S. Hwy. 41 to Santa Barbara Blvd., is 45mph both ways. Except for about a 100 yards or so just before you get to Del Prado Blvd. going west. Posted speed drops to 35 then 30 in a short distance..after you cross Del Prado Blvd. the speed is back to 45.. they track with radar. This is not right.
