Clearwater, Florida Speed Traps
150th Avenue between US 19 & 49th St. N
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Department likes to post cars in the New Life Church lot. The Highway Patrol likes to post cars on 63rd St. to catch you there. This road is a short cut between 19 and 49th St., but the area is mostly residential with two schools on the road, and LOTS of pedestrians, so although you can get popped, it IS a roadway that needs monitoring for safety.
Hercules & Range Rd
Hercules Rd going north from Gulf to Bay, speed varies from 30 to 40 from block to block. A " black unmarked car " sits just past Range Rd in the VFW parking lot on the right side of Hercules. I’ve noticed it mainly in the afternoon around 5:00 PM
Northbound on McMullen Booth Rd at S.R. 60
Speed limit on the Bayside Bridge is 55 mph (but most everyone goes 65 mph).
As you pass the Causeway exit to the east there is a "Reduce Speed sign" then a "Speed Limit 45 mph" one hundred yards beyond. A motorcycle cop with radar gun stations himself on the up ramp to McMullen Both and zaps you. Fine cost me $225.00 for going 20 mph over the limit. Slow waaaay down before the speed limit sign!
As you come into Clearwater on Rt 60
On US 60 west coming from Tampa the Causeway ends in a 45mph from 65. A motorcycle cop sits in Fl Tansport lot & gets ya if you don’t slow down to 45,
I know I got ticket
North Beach on Jewel street off Mandalay on west side.
marked car sits on west side of jewel street, right past the sign that tells you your speed. It is 25 mph and 2 miles over will get you stopped.
