Between Clermont and Groveland

Clermont, FloridaDec 01, 20100 Comments

Going east out of Groveland towards Clermont, east of Hwy. 565A intersection, on SR 50. You will pass the second entrance to Westwood Subdivision on the right (across from Green Valley subdivision) and it will be halfway to Max Hooks Rd. It is a beautiful spot for a Speed Trap. The police hide at the base of a large tree that has limbs that go to the ground, and lots of shubbery. This almost totally obscures Grovelands black cars from sight. Westbound traffic cannot see it at all because it is down a slight embankment, over a double lane highway, SR 50.

Hook St. & Citrus Tower Bvd. (Behind Lowe’s)

Clermont, FloridaSep 16, 20100 Comments

Make sure to stop at the posted signs leaving the parking lot behind Lowe’s. If you roll thru the sign on this deadend road, it will get you a hefty $160.00 plus ticket. They usually sit near top of the hill watching as you are leaving.

Citrus Tower Blvd. Near South Lake Hospital

Clermont, FloridaAug 17, 20100 Comments

Almost every morning a Clermont police officer on a motorcycle sits on his motorcycle near Oakley Seaver Blvd. with a hand held radar unit. The speed limit is 30 M.P.H. He just turns the blue light on and steps out into the street and flags you down to pull you over. I have also seen him on the other side of the street near Oakley Seaver shooting at cars heading towards 50. This site has already been mentioned but it is a sure enough speed trap.

Lakeshore Drive near Hook Street

Clermont, FloridaJun 14, 20100 Comments

This is undoubtedly the worst speed trap in Clermont, Florida. Anyone who regularly travels north around Lake Minnehaha on Lakeshore Drive near Hook Street knows the city cops sit there all the time. Speed limit drops down to 30 mph and you better be careful, because they write tickets all year long!

Hammock Ridge Road off U.S. 27

Clermont, FloridaJun 14, 20100 Comments

Hammock Ridge Rd. is a newer road connecting Lakeshore Drive to U.S. 27. This has become a regular hangout for law enforcement. If you look at the posted speed limit signs carefully, you will notice the speed limit starts out at 35 mph at both ends, then they raise it to 40 in the middle, then they drop it again to 35 mph, all in the space of about one mile! (pretty sneaky) So drivers start out at 35 mph, then increase speed in the middle, and they wait for you to hit the 35 mph zone again, and that’s when they get you. Watch out for the little hill and then a dip in the road, they will sit in the median there both day and night. Also they will hang out on the sides of the road, closer to the curves near U.S. 27.
