N.W. 19th Street near US Highway 19

Crystal River, FloridaMay 06, 20080 Comments

This is the main street in Woodland Estates off of Hwy 19 by the maall and residents often complain about speeders. The posted speed limit is 30 and they will ticket you for 6 miles over the limit. In fact my brother-in-law was pulled and warned for 5 miles over. Officers hide in various locations along the 1 mile strip, all hours of the day.

Dunkenfield Street near US Highway 486

Very long, straight road that you must do 35mph down and close to 1/4 of it is 25mph. I see someone pulled over at least 6 times each week. Not me though, as they make enough money from others. The money makers are located all down the road, tucked into the edges of the woods, etc. I have noticed that most of the activity is where the 35mph goes down to 25mph. I would venture to say that they could buy 10 new police cars each year from this speed trap alone. Enjoy.

W. Emerald Oaks Drive near Citrus Avenue

Crystal River, FloridaMay 24, 20070 Comments

County Deputies facing opposite directions, on Emerald Oaks Dr. (between 19 and 495/Citrus Ave.) not able to see them until it’s to late – park under the trees waiting for the next victim. Almost daily, anytime, but most frequently between 8-11am and 3-6pm. Sometimes separate and do the same at the curves in road.

Turkey Oak Road near Crystal River Bypass

Crystal River, FloridaOct 10, 20061 Comments

Turkey Oak bypass between SR 44 (east of Crystal River) to US 19 (NW of town) This is a new paved road with many gradual engineered curves, no population, posted at 40 mph. It defines the Crystal River city limit in an arc, and is patrolled both city police and Citrus County Sheriff’s office. Usual setup is one officer at Yeoman’s Park (west end of road), and another at the eastern SR 44 intersection under pine trees. From day 1 it has been a revenue maker for local law enforcement.

Early morning enforcement, no traffic, ticket for rolling thru the 3 stop signs. No danger because retirement community is not up!
