Dunedin, Florida Speed Traps
Keene Road near Country Lakes Drive
There is a traffic Deputy that sits either in the median and runs radar or he sits near the bus stop and runs laser. The posted speed here is 40 mph. It’s 4 lanes, divided by a raised median. I’ve seen two at a time there playing tag team. If you’re heading southbound, be careful. Very hard to see, there is a row of trees in the median, somewhat concealing their cars. The Pinellas Sheriff’s Office contracts with the City of Dunedin and has 3 dedicated Traffic Enforcement cars dedicated to the City. They are all marked so they can easily be seen if you got your eyes open. If you get stopped, plan on taking out a second mortgage because the speeding tickets are hefty.
County Trunk 1 near Solon Avenue
The Sheriff’s Office sit in the strip mall located at 1714 CR-1. They sit far enough back not to be seen, although they are in marked cars. One car has a low profile lightbar, the other car in a slick-top Impala. They usually look for 15 over in this 35 mph zone, but if your going 10 over and not wearing a seatbelt, Watch Out. They also sit across from the Happy Foods store and clock N/B traffic. These guys are hard core and give no breaks.
Belcher Road just south of Curlew Road
Two Pinellas County Sheriff Deputies sit at the entrance of a church on the east side of Belcher Road just south of Curlew heading northbound. Aim the radar to the south as cars come over the hump and the other pulls them over. Starting to be a regular thing in that area, especially at morning rush hour. 45 limit way to slow for Belcher Road where traffic consistently travels between 50-55 mph. Cars gain additional momentum coming down the hump heading northbound.
Middle of Patricia near Dunedin Middle School
A cop sits in his car with the gun out the window pulling people over for 5-6 miles over….and its a construction road so they are “doubling”” the ticket price. Saw a guy get pulled over for 6 miles over…he got him before he got me thankfully. Big muscle-lookin cop also stands outside his car further down towards Main Street.”
