Eustis, Florida Speed Traps
CR 44 just west of SR 19 to CR 450
The speed limit is 30 MPH in this section, sandwiched between 45 MPH on either end. A city police officer will sit on the church property 200 yards west of SR 19 and clock eastbound traffic.
County Road 44 E of SR 19
Local cops hide here at night looking for eastbound drivers accelerating too quickly from the light at SR 19 and westbound drivers not slowing down as the speed limit drops from 55 to 45. There is also a sharp curve just E of here, which adds to the westbound hazard. Laser the preferred tool, but occasionally KA radar in use.
Eustis, Florida
We were traveling in a 4 lane highway in Eustis, Florida. We saw two police cars along side the road, with their lights flashing-there were no other cars. I started to move to the left lane but a car was behind me in the left lane. I took my foot off the gas, and we were traveling about 30 mph. The police officer in one car took out a radar gun and zapped me. He got in his car and pulled me over, saying I had to get in the left lane, or slow down by 20 mph. He gave me a ticket citing FL Stat 316.126 (1)(b). The thing about that, there was no emergency, they were running this as a speed trap. We watched them pull over several other cars for the same offense, within 20 minutes.
East Crooked Lake & 441
Two Eustis cops stand next to the road with a gun. Their cars are parked in an empty lot so you can’t see them. They wave cars over one after the next. I got popped last week.
