NW 55th Street near W Newberry Road

Gainesville, FloridaSep 04, 20080 Comments

Usually 1-3 cops (with cars and motorcycles) camped on a side street (I’m looking at them now from my home on NW 15th Place). They stand on the side of the road with radar guns and simply wave folks into the side street. They enforce the 30 mph speed limit on 55th between Newberry and NW 23rd Avenue.

SW 13th Street Street near SW 16th Ave Street

Gainesville, FloridaJul 17, 20080 Comments

On the Corner of SW 13th Street & SW 16th Avenue. Motorcycle cops sit in the gas station (most of the time hidden behind a pump no less!) next to JP Gators and across 13th from Guthrie’s. They are checking speed and watching for people running through the turn signals after they have changed to red.

NW 34th Street near NW 39th Avenue

Travelers on NW 34th St between NW 16th Ave and NW 39th Ave need to be extra careful. Officers hide in driveways and an entrance to a subdivision. There is a hill so if you pick up speed plan on getting a ticket. The posted speed is 40 but I know people who have been ticketed doing 39 to 42 mph. After receiving the tickets, they had there speedometers checked and they were right on the money. With the tax cuts etc. I would imagine there will be a lot more tickets to drum up revenue._

SE 11th Avenue near Williston Road

Gainesville, FloridaApr 11, 20080 Comments

There is a motorcycle cop that sits right at a stop sign on SE 11th Avenue & Williston Road. The speed limit takes a sudden drop from 45 to 35 and he is stationed about 10 yards from the 35 mph sign, catching and ticketing anyone that may have missed the sign indicating the reduced speed. I was ticketed going home sick from work, I had a bag in my car that I was using to vomit in and he still gave me a ticket. I’m fighting it! Beware!_
