Inverness, Florida Speed Traps
Turner Camp Road – Rt. 581 North
The road is approximately 6 miles long from town to where it ends in the Withlacochee River. Recent speed changes from 25 miles to 30, to 35 to 45 back to 35 have caught local residents off-guard while police sit in patrol cars around curves waiting to stop them going into town or coming home. This mostly rural road has had few accidents over the last 30 years except for a drunk or two coming from the fish camp and changing speed signs would not affect them any way.
20 mph speed limit on residential street….Hemlock St.
Watch any of the roads off of Apopka Ave. The speed limits range from 20 to 35 per Street. The one on Hemlock St. catches you coming down a hill. I got stopped at 6:30 a.m. on the way to work! I often wondered why all the side street limits are not the same, as you would usually assume all are 30 mph.
