Lakeland, Florida Speed Traps

A motorcycle cop clocking on the west side of S. Florida Ave, just a block or so north of Ariana. This is a REGULAR speed trap…they’re out there all the time. Anyone who drives this stretch of S. Florida probably knows by now to closely follow the speed limit.

When Heading from 98 (Bartow Road) to Combee, on the right hand side, right in front of the lake after the elementary school is on your left. Watch when school lights are flashing. Goes from 35 to 15

For a little less than 1/8-mile, the south end of Yates Rd. drops from 45 mph to 35 mph, just before it intersects with Ewell Rd.
It’s a curvy, heavily tree-shadowed area, with Lots of hiding places for the motorcycle militia.

West Pipkin Rd. runs from County Line Rd. on the west to S. Florida Ave. (37) on the east.
Between County Line Rd. and Yates Rd., there is only 1 business (GEICO Insurance), and 2 entrances to residential developments.
For roughly 1/2-mile, there is Nothing.
But it’s a 45 mph zone, and it generates a Lot of revenue for Polk County.

South of Highway 92 all the way to Coronet Road (about a mile north of HIghway 60) Cars (marked and unmarked) sit of the side of the road and can’t be seen until it’s too late. The speed limit is 45 for the majority of the stretch but cars easily are doing 60-70 with the flow of traffic.
