Miami Beach, Florida Speed Traps
Pine Tree Drive near 41st Street
Motorcycle policemen usually hide behind parked cars to catch people driving over the speed limit on Pine Tree Drive south of 41st Street. The road can be clear for stretches and drivers can easily and safely reach speeds of 40-45mph, which is over the 30mph limit.
Interstate 195 – Eastbound near Bridges to beach
As you are coming down from the first bridge, it’s easy to pick up speed because of the climb and descent. Most cops are on the right side of the road either at the bottom of the bridge or a couple of lengths down from the bridge. They know people blow through at 70+ mph because it’s an interstate, but its posted 55 in Miami-Dade county. You’ll get highway patrol, city and county cops at any time of day. It’s worse to see at night, especially weekends, because they know there’s party traffic coming and going.
Alton Road near 21 to 51 Street
Miami Beach officers, usually in motorcycles, heavily enforce the 30 mph speed limit at the behest of wealthy neighbors. This is a 4-lane divided road where the speed limit was 35 mph (too low for the type of road), yet, the residents got it lowered to 30 mph. The entire Alton Rd. (State Road 807) is a speed trap.
Venetian Cosway Road near 17th street and Dilido
This area is heavy with speeders, myself included, make sure you watch yourself on the Cosway, cops are ALWAYS there and running laser.. Yesterday had one follow me for 5 minutes and checked my speed 8 times (i have a top of the line radar/laser detector) These guys are heavy handed and really have nothing better to do like solving the millions of dollars in home burglaries that happens in that area.
Sunny Isles Blvd just East of Sunny Isles bridge
Heading East on Sunny Isles Blvd (163st) towards the Beach, after reaching the top of the bridge there are usually 1-3 police cars on both sides of the road with Radar guns in one hand and ticket books in the other.
