North Miami Beach, Florida Speed Traps

Around NE 9th Avenue, Miami Gardens Dr. (NW 183 Street) makes a wide curve towards the left and the speed limit drops to 30 mph quite unnecessarily given the design and conditions of the road (divided highway with two thru lanes on each side plus turn lanes). North Miami Beach Police runs a laser speed trap right after the road curves.

Just a half block going south from Hampton Court Nursing Home on right. They will have a spotter under a tree and a cop to waive people over just behind spotter. It is always around the 11th of each month. Don’t speed on 161st Street.

This trap is actually in Golden Beach, which I had never heard of prior to this ticket, and apparently is a very small incorporated area. Multiple cops at night(I think Dade County Sheriff, their cars had the county paint jobs) at various points on A1-A north of the Lehman Causeway where it is all residential. They pull over for anything, I got it for a license plate tag light out, then seat belt added to it, etc..they ticketed me for both. Best to simply avoid this part of a1-a at night and take Biscayne north or south if you need to.

They tend to use ProLaser III for those with jammers, allthough they do not write this in stone and sometimes opt for radar. The cop will sit rather in the cruiser or stand outside facing westbound clocking people coming off the bridge at a high rate of speed. its a 35 but with the decline of the bridge speeds above 44-55mph can easily be reached. Lately there has been a dramatic rise in police stops in the area be cautious, enjoy!
