Ocala, FloridaSep 08, 20070 Comments

Southbound rush hour traffic going home on 441 southbound will encounter 1-3 motorcycle cops sitting on the west side of 441 just past the railroad overpass. They like to sit right before the hotel. This is a 45 mile an hour speed limit and it’s downhill most of the way until you run into them. This is just past the pizza hut on south 441 Ocala. Be Careful!

State Highway 200 near Interstate 75

Ocala, FloridaAug 18, 20070 Comments

For about 9 miles Highway 200 west of I-75 is a recently widened and reconstructed road. The highway is a safe, pothole free semi-rural divided 6-lane road, with left turn lanes and a wide grass median. Right now it has about nine traffic lights along this section. However, the posted speed limit was only raised from 45 to 50 MPH after construction was completed from two lanes to six, while other 2-lane and 4-lane roads in the same county with more traffic and way more uncontrolled access, are posted at 55 and even 60 MPH. The Florida Highway Patrol and the Sheriffs Office routinely sets up enforcement along this section of the 200 corridor. At night, just East of SW 80th to about SW 46, FHP and SO units are frequently blacked out in the median shooting radar or laser in both directions. They sometimes conceal themselves in the parking lot of Triple Crown Homes Model Center (North side of hwy) or behind the wall of a subdivision entrance on the south side of road.

SE 24th Street near SE 36th Avenue

Ocala, FloridaJun 15, 20071 Comments

A motorcycle cop usually sits under an oak tree on the north side of the road just east of SE 36th ave. He is usually there in the middle of the day when the shadow under the tree provides the best cover. The speed limit is 35mph, however this section of the road is straight and open making it easy to exceed the speed limit without realizing it. The only reason he has not got me yet, is that he usually already has somebody stopped when I pass by. This is an active speed trap, Watch out!
