exit 44

Polk City, FloridaAug 01, 20130 Comments

There is a stationary aircraft setting on private property of Fantasy of Flight. The plane is pointed southwest. There is a remote camera mounted in the pilot seat. When you go between mile mark 43 & 44 east that triggers the camera if you are speeding. The cops sets on the east side of 559 on the east bound on ramp. They will slowly move down the ramp and wait on you. There is no warning of any type of camera being use. If you are going west on I-4 you can see the camera in the pilot seat. It took me a month to figure out how the cops were doing this. Then I saw the camera, and I have watch the cops catch people.

Aircraft are used regularly above exit 44 to catch primarily eastbound speeders. It is Sunday morning at 8am and they are circling now.

I4 East of Exit 48

State Trooper frequently sits in median grabbing east bound traffic. Seem to be generous and only pull over those going more than 78 mph. Have many to choose from though as traffic in left lane frequently is moving 80 to 90 mph in this middle of no where straight stretch of I4

They sit on top of the Polk Parkway Toll Road (SR570) Bridge over I-4 in a unmarked older Jeep and tag people all day long going East toward Orlando.

Polk County Parkway near Polk County Parkway

The Parkway is monitored full time by at least two Florida Highway Patrol cruisers. Both are marked. There are often additional unmarked cruisers and Polk County Sheriff cruisers. The cruisers seem to work together in that you usually find one in the South/West and the other in the North/East lanes. A fairly constant area for a trap is just West of the Winter Lake Rd. Toll booth and East of the HWY 98 junction.
