Port Saint Lucie, Florida Speed Traps
I-95 NB btw Becker and Gatlin exits
I-95 NB every Sunday starting at around 8am, one Trooper sits in the median between Becker Road and Gatlin Blvd with laser/radar gun and catches drivers as the road gently curves to the left. They usually have 5-7 chase cars set further up the road. You can’t see the trap until it’s too late due to the trees and thick brush in the median. Operation usually lasts a couple hours and then they go have breakfast.
Route 95 North
Coming over a crest prior to the main exit to Port St Lucie, the driver sees a dozen lights indicating an accident. As you try to find the accident your car accelerates on the downhill and soon you’ll be going more than the 70 mph.
When you get the ticket, a dozen attorneys and driver safety schools will also send you mail.
Nice scam and speed trap cottage industry.
From the Cross town Parkway exit off I 95 to the end
This is a three lane parkway that was put in when St. Lucie was exploding. It was meant for trucks and was going to be a corridor between I 95 and US 1. So far, it’s only made it to Floresta Blvd..
The limit is 45 and there is usually not a lot of traffic. There was a motor cycle officer there, around California Blvd. for some time. I was in the car when my friend was ticketed.
I recently saw what appeared to be radar strips being laid down a long the course of the road. It’s easy to lose of track of how fast you’re going and they will get you if you’re there.
