Port Saint Lucie, Florida Speed Traps
Port St. Lucie Boulevard near Westmoreland Boulevard
Two cops on foot walk to where the highest point of the Port St. Lucie Bridge peaks and clocks motorists going east as well as monitors seatbelt use. They radio to waiting cops in cars parked in the Bridge Plaza shopping center. This morning 5/29/07, there were at least ten waiting police cars. Each one had a passing motorist pulled over in a matter of minutes. It must have been a quick operation because I passed back by about an hour later and the whole operation had moved out.

They use every force they have to meet their revenue quota. They have an officer checking speeds with a Laser gun from St. Lucie West road that crosses I-95, while they have a bunch of state trooper waiting for an order. They also use Radar and hide under that little bridge(State Troopers use KA Band, Port St. Lucie Sheriffs department use K Band and Ka But many of them use K in comparison with other counties. In addition to using radars, both State Troopers and Sheriffs use a vast range of undercover vehicles (Old Ford 150 pickup, Old Cherokee, old Pontiacs, Dodge Chargers, Mustangs, American SUV’s). Finally they use the VASCAR method which consists mostly on an airplane taking video and calculating your speed and alerting on ground officers, if you happen to see a bunch of troopers hiding in the bushes and no alert from the radar detector, slow down! The plane hasnt seen you yet, you still have a chance.
This area has a high cop density

The officers site on top of the St. Lucie West Blvd overpass and check the south bound traffic. They usually have 5 to 10 chase cars setup to pull over the offending vehical. I have seen both Highway Patrol and Sheriffs using this spot and are extremly aggressive on holidays.
