Ruskin, Florida Speed Traps

At least once a week FHP sets up a VASCAR trap with an aircraft and 10-20 cars/motorcycles. The plane will clock you as you pass the rest stop (you can see the white lines on the pavement) and as you come around the bend you will see blue lights everywhere. They will have up to a dozen people pulled over at any given time. They do not use radar or laser at all so unless you are using Waze or something similar you will not know they are there.

They have been doing this on a regular basis for the last two months. The state must be making a ton of money off of it.

There is a major speed trap located adjacent to the rest stop south of sr 674 usually in the northbound lane. It is always run by the state troopers, at leat six and up to 10 marked cars. There will be one trooper behind bushes in the median running laser or a speed detecting device.the troopers will line up, pulling people over, sometimes 3-5 cars at a time. The trap is always run in the morning rush hour about twice a week.
