Saint Petersburg, Florida Speed Traps
22nd N Avenue near North West Elementry School
They catch you just a little east and west in both lanes of 22nd ave. It is a school zone trap
Ulmerton Road near Interstate 275
After getting off of I-275 southbound to the Ulmerton Road exit the speed drops from 70 to 55 quite quickly. The 55 mph signs are posted and police are hidden in inconspicuous vehicles. I’ve seen them in Utility Vehicles (Florida Power/Teco) dressed as electrical guys hitting everyone that comes off of 275 and radioing for police parked about a 1/4 to 1/2 mile ahead about the vehicles and pulling them over. I’ve seen as many as 8 cars pulled over at the same time!
4th Street near Exit Number 4th St
Unmarked sheriffs sit in the u-turns or grass area wait for people coming off i-275. be careful not to go over 60 when coming off.
5th South Avenue near 34th Street
Just west of the school zone on the westbound side after St. Petersburg High School.
Gandy Boulevard near Race Trak gas station
Usually 3-4 cops sitting on any given side of Gandy bridge shooting radar or laser. They can hit you at almost any point on the bridge and then pull you over at the end of the bridge. Speed traps are usually from midnight until 5AM, since this is a popular street racing area. The speed limit across the bridge is 55mph, which could be raised to at least 65.
Word of caution: Law enforcement usually targets people in performance cars, seeing as how this whole trap is set to catch street racers, but will nail anyone who is speeding if it’s a slow night.
