Sanibel, Florida Speed Traps
Casa Ybel Road, near W. Gulf Drive
Police cars hide in brush usually along the East side of the road, especially near the curve, between W. Gulf and Middle Gulf drives. Speed limit is 30mph there.
Slow down! – Sanibel is too beautiful to rush through!
Causeway Boulevard near sextant Drive
marked patrol car hides in the bushes along bike path, waits for late night drivers who exceed 30mph.
Sanibel Causeway, both islands
Lee County Sheriff sits behind the weigh station on the second island with 3 or 4 motorcycles ready to go. They stand with radar aimed at oncoming traffic (heading onto island) and they can/will pull you over once you’re on the island. On occasion they can be found behind other trees and bushes on the islands, but the weigh station is their favorite spot. If you see oncoming traffic flashing headlights, slow down – and if you see a cop hiding, flash your lights to warn others.
