Sunny Isles Beach, Florida Speed Traps
At the top of the entrance to the William Lehman Causeway from Collins Avenue heading eastbound to US1.
East bound of 163 street approaching Collins Avenue (A1A) in Sunny Isles Beach, FL, usually on the left side of this 1-way 5-lane street there will be 1-3 police officers with radars as you go down on the bridge. The speed limit is 35 and completely unrealistic and does not even feel natural to go that slow. And they will give you a ticket for doing 40 mph.
As traffic travels eastbound on 163 Street (SR 826) and comes down the bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway into Sunny Isles Beach, the speed limit drops to 35 mph. The local police will be shooting radar at vehicles coming down the east side of the bridge towards A1A and will get a clock on their speed before the drivers realize they are there.
Going East toward the beach, two(2) officers hide in the parking lot of a strip shopping mall on the right side of the road. They play good cop, bad cop. Don’t give them any lip ,but play humble and you might get away with a warning.
