Winter Springs, Florida Speed Traps

The Winter Springs police have bike cops hiding in the woods behind trees with radar guns then radio ahead to police cars and motor cycle cops they will pull you over.
They will bust you for going 1 mph over the limit.
They have a ZERO tolerence and have busted my roomates and many of my neighbors.

Winter Springs Boulevard going through the Tuskawilla subdivision is one big speed trap. Winter Springs PD likes to use all sorts of vehicles (VW Jettas, SUVS, motocycles, Neons, Camaros, Crown Victorias, etc.) Whatever they can get their hands on. You must go 30 and make a dead stop at the stop signs. And don’t even try going 5 over. They nailed my neighbor a tenth mile from her house for that. They like to tuck themselves into the Nature Trail parking lot on this main stretch and also near the water treatment plant a few yards away. Beware when you are cutting through on this road. It is heavily patrolled. Assume any car at night can be a cop on this road and all other roads through Tuskawilla subdivision.

The local police will either hide behind houses or bushes, or they will hide behind a concrete wall that juts out almost perpendicular to the street where you cannot see them until its too late. The speed limit sign reads “Speed Limit 25 – Strictly enforced””. They are not kidding. I know people who have been ticketed for going only 5 over the limit.”

On SR 434 between the Greenway (Toll 417) and Tuskawilla Dr, you cross over a small overpass over a canal. The median is very wide, and on the overpass the median is solid concrete; enough space for 2 Sheriff cars to park and scan each direction. This road is not lit and the area is very dark at night, so by the time you see them sitting with their lights out, you have been caught.

The cops will sit one street down from the intersection, on edgemon and watch for people running stop signs and speeding on edgemon. This isn’t particularly a speed trap but rather a warning to keep it slower than normal around there.
