Alpharetta, Georgia Speed Traps
Windward Parkway after Marconi Dr
Alpharetta Police Department likes to sit in the office Entrance/Exit getting people speeding Eastbound on Windward Parkway. Speed limit is 40. They run cars, motorcycles and Expeditions. They tend to block the Entrance/Exit of one of the office buildings while doing this.
Milton Ave. coming from the west before Roswell St/Canton St
The police car parks in the parking spaces of the stores across the street from the old Milton HS (Now Independence HS). The speed for most Mid-Broadwell is 40mph, it goes down to 35mph after you pass Wills Rd. But recently they added a new speed sign taking it down to 25mph as you get near the cemetery!!! Really??!!
So if you are coming at 35mph, even if you take your foot of the gas pedal, you really don’t reduce speed significantly as the road is going down hill there….
I have several friends that have been stopped there… Frankly, 25mph is unnecessary as you are getting near a stop sign.
Old Milton Pkwy at Roswell Rd
Heading West on Old Milton Pkwy before reaching Alpharetta Hwy, the speed limit is 45 mph. As soon as you cross over Alpharetta Hwy, the speed drops to 35 mph and the Alpharetta police are there at Roswell Rd to ticket you.
Parson’s Road between Abbott’s Bridge and SR141
Police are always sitting in some of the subdivisions or at the Dor Tamid Synagogue or St. Bart’s church – never exceed 35 on this stretch or they will ticket you.
Kimball Bridge Road @ entrance to Glen Abbey
This is roughly half way between Buice Road and Waters Road, heading westbound. Alpharetta likes to run a pair of motocycle police who hide under the shade of a small tree at roadside, making them hard to be seen as you around the bend. This is a 35 MPH zone despite regular traffic traveling at 45-50 mph, so an easy money maker. They run this speed trap at least a few times each month, typically during midday but sometimes during rush hour.
