I-575 at Exit 19 Northbound

Canton, GeorgiaApr 20, 20101 Comments

Exiting the ramp to travel Northbound to Rt. 20, the speed limit drops from 65mph to a ramp speed of only 35 mpg. Only one other ramp on all of I-575 drops to 35 mph. The police hide behind the concrete barrier on the .9 mile ramp. They also like to hide on the bridge on Rt. 20 and catch those that choose to make a right hand turn on a posted No Right Hand Turn towards the new shopping center. They probably catch 8-10 drivers per DAY!

I-575 @ Exit 19 (Hwy 20) Southbound

Much like the speed trap at exit 20 southbound, the Canton police park on the entrance ramp to I-575 Southbound partially hidden by the concrete divider between the ramp and the interstate. Much like the speed trap at exit 20, the speed limit changes numerous times along this stretch of 575. I’ve seen this officer pull over no less than 5 cars over the past 3 weeks. They love the out of state tags.

Gaddis Road

Going past the Woodmont clubhouse is a small hill, Speed Limit 30, and is lined with trees on the right. At the next intersection, just beyond the trees, is a radar unit waiting to pick up those who have unwittingly picked up speed due to the pull of gravity down the hill.

I- 575 & Riverstone Pkwy

I-575 and Riverstone Parkway (Exit 20) – Many times I have spotted Canton Police parked at the end of the exit ramp at Exit 20. The car will be sitting sideways so the driver’s side window faces north. The officer shoots radar onto southbound traffic. This is where the speed limit decreases southbound—if you spot a vehicle at the bottom of the entrance ramp (in the grass), slow down immediately. This may save you a ticket!

State Highway 140 near Interstate 575

On highway 140, right past the railroad tracks (on either side), right next to exit 16 of I575, canton police would sit and watch for these offenses:

1. speeding. limit is 35 but easy to break uphill and downhill, as there is a passing lane uphill and downhill, it goes from 45 to 35 in mid descent!

2. There is a no right turn on red off the interstate exit ramp (if you exited from northbound). often ignored by most, but sometimes they would park a cruiser and watch for that as well.

Mostly at night and on weekends but seen them in the am rush hour as well, usually a new tahoe SUV visibly parked off the side of the road in the AM. If you know walden crossing apartments, well the trap is right there or across from them.

Laser use not confirmed but its possible with the tahoe in particular. The crownvics are radar only. Some slicktops as well…. white cars. All of them.
