College Park, Georgia Speed Traps
West Fayettevile Road (South of Godby Road)
Near the end to the school zone, a policeman steps out and pulls over cars who are speeding. Usually 20-25 miles over the 25 limit.Cop takes license and after 20 minutes he returns with a ticket, but no license. You ask for your license and he says that he saw you put it away. He wants you to acknowledge that you have it, but you don’t because he still has it. Only after extreme pressure will he return it to you. Down the road near East Fayetteville Road there is a second cop who will pull you over and when you do not have a license you get another high dollar ticket. They need the revenue to fund the Sheriff (who has been indicted on over 30 counts) and a Plice Chief that is the subject of a criminal investigation.
Exit 71, 85 North in College Park
April 6, 2012 – Motorcycle cops sitting in this area looking to nab people in the transition zone from 70, 65, to 55. I was probably the slowest guy in the middle lane and somehow I was picked out – new red camry rental most likely the reason. Going 69 in a 55. This is a classic speed trap. My ticket was $145.
Godby Road near US Post Office
College Park Police sit in the closed road across from the Godby Road Post Office, next to the Community Center.
I-285 Expressway near Exit Number 62
I am suprised that this isn’t already on here. My friend told me about this site and I figured I would check it seeing that there is ALWAYS a College Park H.E.A.T. car on Interstate 285 East and West. I travel this Interstate every day and I usually know to slow it down when you get near Riverdale Rd exit. I have made the mistake to come through there at 70 to 75 mph and they didn’t come after me so I guess they are looking for higher speeds. I am not going to take the chance seeing that it is a 55 mph zone! They always have a car pulled over in this area so be careful.
