Buena Vista Road near Schatulga Road

Columbus, GeorgiaAug 23, 20070 Comments

Coming from Schatulga Rd where it becomes from a 50mph zone to a 40 mph then back to a 45 mph zone in less than a mile. Cops are constantly around there catching you because if you are traveling 50 on Schatulga and they get you in the 40mph zone they will write you a ticket!

Interstate 185 near Williams Road

Columbus, GeorgiaJun 09, 20070 Comments

Comming into Columbus from the North on I-185 and after the 55mph speed limit sign is posted before Williams Road exit (the Welcome Center). About one mile after Williams Road there is an overpass where a police car sometimes hangs out between the north and south bound lanes. To the right is the turn-off to Phenix City, Alabama and Macon, Georgia. The speed trap is there as late as noon and sometimes it is moved south of this point. Most traffic slows down to 60-65 but don’t go faster than 65mph.

Macon Road near University Avenue

I drive up Macon Road regularly, and each and every time I see someone pulled over for speeding. The speed limit drops from 45 to 40 rapidly and with little warning, and police will follow you, just waiting for the drop so they can pull you over and write you a ticket. Realistically, on a clear day on this road with little to no traffic, it is safe to travel 50-55 miles per hour.

US Highway 80 near Beaver Trail

Coming over a bridge and rounding a curve at the bottom of the hill. 45mph zone poorly marked and about a mile from a 55mph zone.

Interstate I-185 Southbound near Saint Mary’s Road

Columbus, GeorgiaAug 16, 20050 Comments

When traveling southbound on I-185 just south of St. Mary’s Rd. between the hours of about 5 am and 7 am, watch for Columbus Police Officers on the right side of the road and in the median. Just south of this location is a sharp "S" curve that has taken many lives. I believe the "target audience" are military workers on the way to FortBenning every morning. Slow down or they will ticket you.
