There was a full load of cars heading north on the highway. We were all going about 78-80 miles an hour. We passed the two good ole’ boys sitting on the median and facing two different directions. The one car pulled out and drove up to the pack of which I was in the middle of. The other cars and vans were Georgia tags and I had a New Jersey plate. He came in like a hawk fixed on pray. The lights went on and I pulled over. I explained to the officer that I was going with the flow of traffic. I was pulling over to move out of the way of a huge 15 passenger van that was driving and swerving to hammer down. He did not care. He told me I could tell it to the judge as he handed me the ticket and circled
the date and address on the cash register receipt ticket. It was a no win situation and IU was for sure singled out. Also he told me I was going 86 which is crazy as I have a little tiny Korean car!!!

Never stop or patronize anything in this town. They are not on the up and up!

I was driving at 75 miles per hour per my GPS (although my speedometer said 78), and, an unmarked, heavily tinted glass, car was right on my bumper. I made a comment why didn’t he just pass? I looked in my rear view mirror again and a flood of blue lights came on. The officer said he had clocked me at approximately 90 miles per hour about a 1/4 mile back, but would call it 86 and issued me a citation. When I told him my GPS registered 78 he said "that is wrong and my instrument has just been calibrated". I will never buy anything in Darien Georgia. Also there was another car pulled over about a mile prior to this and consequently he also had a Florida tag..Coincidence??

The good city of Darien has expanded their city limits to include two miles of swamp either side of I-95. Rather than protect the people of Darien’s local streets, they now have a fleet of police cars that do nothing but sit along that stretch of I-95 and use their speed detectors (Radar or Laser) to enforce the speed limits of a NATIONAL INTERSTATE FREEWAY! Apparently GA has decided that the Georgia State Patrol has better things to do and is allowing the local jurisdictions to suplement their tax base with SPEED TRAPS on major interstates! Speeding is wrong and dangerous, but the local police are suppose to be protecting the "STREETS" of their towns, not milking revenue off of interstate travelers. Quite a cozy system with Police, Judge and Attorney1

three cars pulled over by police department. I drove 500 miles and this was the most aggressive police force that I saw all night.

Driving north, I see a car on the right hand side of the road with the interior lights on and I am in the right lane. Trying to be safe, I moved over to the left lane incase this was a broken down car, it ends up being a cop with his door open shooting radar. I speed up to make a safe lane change in between two other cars in the left lane, once past the cop, moved back over and slowed down. The cop flew up on my tail and pulled me over even though cars were passing me in the left lane.
I show up to court to ask if I can have my ticket lowered 1 mile per hour to save my fines $70, the judge was very rude and told me I could pay the fines or ask for a jury trial only. Once I asked for a jury trial, the judge told me that was a good way to have my fines if not doubled but tripled. I waited in the court room from 9am til 3:30pm before my name was called. I also found out that the local attorney gets your information to fight your ticket for $200 which is almost what my ticket was and mails you a post card. The attorney is in the same parking lot as the court house and while you are in court, the officers tell you that this attorney (who is sitting in the court room will take your case now for $200). After talking to the State Attorney of GA, it against the law to make your speeding ticket public record until you are proven guilty.
WATCH OUT FOR THIS LITTLE TOWN, ITS ONE OF THOSE SMALL CITY TOWNS THAT WANTS TO GET EVERY DOLLAR OUT OF YOUR POCKET. THE JUDGE IS DISRESPECTFUL TO EVERYONE IN THE COURT ROOM. I SOON HAVE MY JURY TRIAL COMING UP AND WILL GIVE YOU MY UPDATE.
BOYCOTT DARIEN, GA. DONT STOP FOR GAS, DONT STOP TO SHOP, JUST DRIVE THE SPEED LIMIT AND GET THRU THIS HORRIBLE LITTLE TOWN.
