Dawson, Georgia Speed Traps

This is a new one. Brand new Police Cruiser, just bought 2 of them with borrowed money. Police Officer driving this new cruiser North on Pecan Street in a nice neighborhood with Rap Music blaring at the highest volume on the vehicle loud speaker. At least a brief moment when local citizens are not getting robbed by these blue light bandits.

Leaving the Dawson Ga. Post Office, I turn right on Lee St. Go 3 blocks to my home on the left. Officer follows me into my yard after I get out of my car. I am cited for driving without a seat belt. Go to court because I had on my seatbelt. Learn in this kangaroo court the prosecuting attorney is the son of the city attorney. Obvious we have stealing racket going on with these blue lighting clowns. The police in Dawson GA. are uneducated, untrained and don’t use any common sense. When this virus is over,  I’m leaving here and find a new job in better place to live.

Live in Alpharetta, GA. Travel to South Georgia often on business. I have over 35 years driving experience. To be a safe driver I constantly pay attention to all the traffic around me except when I come to Dawson, GA. on Highway 520. Here you have to search the parking lots and side roads where the police hide and pounce on the unaware driver to blue light and steal your money. Drive thru this town you will know how the mouse feels when the cat jumps on him.

Saturday morning 11 A M, residential neighborhood, no traffic in any direction.
Stopped at stop sign, must roll forward to make right hand turn. Immediately blue lighted by female officer and charged with failure to stop at four way stop. When I went on line to pay the fine the citation read “ after a full stop failure to yield at a four way stop”. Had the Chief of Police ride with me and showed him what happened. His only comment was I was charged with the wrong code section.
Make a long story short the fine was $150 dollars. Watched them the rest of that day which was the Saturday before Fathers Day. At times there as many as three stops with blue lights. Time to put a end to this stealing and harassing the public.

This Hi Way runs thru what is known as the true meaning of Rural America.
Police park off the road and patrol back and forth on this stretch of road which runs from Albany Ga. to Columbus Ga. The best way to describe it is blue light alley. They are there to take your money day and night. The State of Georgia should do something about this one. Advice avoid Dawson, Georgia on your travel plans, if at all possible. You have been warned.
