Forsyth, Georgia Speed Traps

At the bottom of a hill in a 45 mph zone, with the 55 mph is sight. When north bound, the highway has no shoulder, allowing the police and stopped car to block the north bound lane,(sometimes at night) causing a traffic hazard. All about revenue in the name of safety

If you’re driving in Forsyth, GA or Monroe County, you better watch out! And make sure you pay attention to the county line signs. They are all over. There is a police training school there and they love to give out citations. They have absolutely no sympathy for anyone. And their court system is completely absurd. You might as well forget fighting a ticket there. And don’t let them fool you! They often sit behind abandoned vehicles so that you think they are busy. Give them the New York wave for me on your way through!

While driving on this stretch the speed limit is 55, but they will run behind you (presumably looking for a DUI) and pace you. They pull you over (again hoping for DUI) then give you a ticket for speeding. I got one for 60 in a 45 even though it’s really a 55. When trying to explain this to the officer he would not listen. Of course I went to my court date to fight it. They agreed it was a 55, but made my pay $35 dollars for 60 in a 55 which is not legal for me to be stopped at anyway. The trick is that this is at an arraignment and if you fight it you have to come back for another court date. I can’t miss two days of work for $35 so I paid it. It’s a nice little revenue generator they have going. There were about 50 people there, of which approximately 15 were there for the same thing as me.
